Yaakov and Benyamin’s Special Visit to Shepparton’s Jewish Community

Thursday, 14 November, 2024 - 12:10 pm

What a special day! Yaakov and Benyamin spent the day in Shepparton, visiting some of the remaining Jewish residents up that way.

Back in the middle of the last century, this area was a hub of Jewish activity, with a Synagogue and Yeshiva that was home to a large community. Over the years, Jewish people slowly moved down to Melbourne, and a monument was erected about 10 years ago to commemorate this era.

Our volunteers visited Maurice and his family, who have been growing apples in Shepparton for over 60 years!
