Pesach 2020
With Chabad of RARA
Passover is April 8th – April 16th

Our Commitment Remains - Chabad of RARA
Chabad of RARA's response to the COVID-19 pandemic

Dear Friend,

The festival of Passover (Pesach) is fast approaching. It is a special time of togetherness with family and community, and yet, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, our usual community Seder plans will be greatly disrupted.

We are writing to regrettably inform you that this year the annual community Pesach Seders around Australia will not be taking place. With the ongoing restrictions on congregating, and the advice of social distancing and self isolating, a community Seder would be against government and Health regulations.

However, despite the restrictions of gathering, Passover will go on! We have organised special “Seder-to-Go” kits that will include the essentials for a Seder, as well as easy to follow instructions for how to organise everything else that you will need. Whether you’ve done it for many years or never done it before, this Seder kit will be a comprehensive set up for you and your family. To order your kit today, visit

We understand that not having the wonderful annual community gatherings is disappointing, however, we all know that we are currently in very difficult times. After much consideration, and in consultation with health professionals and Rabbis, we have come to this arrangement in order to do only what is safe and best for all. We all know that the loss of even a single human life has a huge significance in Torah, and almost all the Mitzvot are suspended to save a life.

In this new and uncharted world, we encourage you to take this on as an opportunity for something beautiful - to gather with your closest family members, and step into the driving seat of the Passover experience. Lead your own family in story, song and inspiration in the warmth of your own home. Be the light that illuminates the world in this difficult time!

We endeavour to have our volunteers deliver the Seder kits wherever possible, and where that is not practical, we will post them to you. Rest assured, the have been packed within the strictest of health guidelines.

Sell your chametz
Use this online form to sell your chametz for Passover.

Any chametz left undisposed must be sold to a non-Jew. Since there are many legal intricacies involved in this sale, a rabbi acts as our agent both to sell the chametz to the non-Jew on the morning before Passover and also to buy it back the evening after Passover ends. Use this online form to quickly delegate a rabbi to sell your chametz for you.
