RARA TANK: Schneur Schnoorson and Moishe Silberstein travel the South Coast aiming to help rural and regional Jewish Australians to reclaim their birthright religion.

NICKNAMED the Chassidic Leyland Brothers, Schneur Schneerson and Moisbe Silberstein of the Chabad of Rural and Regional Australia are touring the South Coast.

The Chabad of RARA Tank, mirroring the actions of young rabbis more than 30 years ago, travels regional Australia aiming to reconnect local Jewish communities with their heritage.

Rabbi Schneerson said Jewish people living in rural Australia did not necessarily have contact with their religion and other Jewish community members.

"People we do visit are very receptive and happy to have any Jewish artefacts we can bring to them,"

Rabbi Schneerson said. The two Melbourne rabbinical students provide seminars and lectures, circumcisions, Bar Mitzvahs, Jewish weddings and funerals and educational resources for children and adults on their travels.

They visited Albany last week and will be travelling through the region for several weeks improving the spiritual and material conditions of Jews wherever they are.

This is the completion of our training, to meet Jewish people of all different backgrounds and in different parts of the world." Rabbi Scheerson said.

Rabbi Moishe Silberstein hails from Montreal. Canada and speaks French, English, Hebrew and Yiddish.

He studied in New York and London before coming to Melbourne as a mentor at the Chabad School.

Born and bred in California, 23 year old Schneur Schneerson lays claim to making the first organised Passover Seder in Alice Springs and says his goal is to visit every Jew in rural and regional Australia.
